Extra Curricular

At Ridgeway Primary School and Nursery we offer a wide range of Extra-Curricular Clubs to children in Years 2 - 6. We try and offer a variety of clubs to capture the interest of a wide range of children.  Clubs run last year included; Netball, Football, Running Club, News Explorers, Dance, Art, Ridgeway Code Club, Choir, Street Dance, Chess Club, Cookery, Science Club  to name a few! Each year we reflect on the successes and try and re-run popular clubs whilst introducing new clubs too. Where clubs are very popular we will try and re-run them until all children who wanted to attend have. We understand your frustration at not being selected for clubs but please be patient and they will get an opportunity later in the year. In-house clubs are run by teachers, sports coaches and teaching assistants.

We also have external companies running clubs e.g. Football Club (Years 1-6), MDL Short Tennis (Years1 - 5) and Le Club Francais (Years 1-6)  Tae Kwon Do (Years 2-6). Letters can also be found outside the school office.

Have a look at the termly planner using the link below. (Clubs may be subject to change) Letters will be sent out to children in the relevant year groups two weeks before and replies should be returned to the school office. They will also be found in the School Letters section of the website. Letters will then be sent back to parents notifying you whether your child has been sucessful or not in gaining a place and invoices will be sent.  Some clubs may be chargeable but they are non-profit making and the charge is to cover costs of staffing and resources.

Please see the Extra Curricular Clubs Guidelines link below for our clubs. Children in KS2 can make their own way to clubs but children in KS1 will need parents to take them to clubs as clubs don't start until 3.15 pm so members of staff can be ready to start clubs. Children in Year 5 and 6 can walk home after clubs but this should be notified on the consent form. Children will be brought down to the main entrance by the club organiser to be collected by parents/carers once the club has finished.  The main doors will be opened at 4.15pm (4.00pm on a Monday for choir).  Parents will not be able to enter the school before this time.

If your child is off sick please mention to the office staff that they were meant to be at a club so the relevant member of staff can be notified.

We hope your child enjoys these enrichment opportunties to their learning and extend their interests further through our extra-curricular provision.
