Ridgeway has built a successful partnership with 'Place2Be' and have two and a half days of Place2Be support every week.  The project is led by Tim Mayn, our School Project Manager.  Their work includes group work, Place2Talk and Place2Be as well as work with parents.  Place2Talk is a self-referral scheme where children can talk to the project manager about their worries and concerns.  Place2Be is one to one counselling over a period of time for a number of individuals with 4 volunteer counsellors.

The Place2Be is a national children's charity working with 200 schools across the UK who provide a safe space - The Place2Be room - where children can express their feelings through talking, creative work and play. 

The Place2Be works with children, teachers and parents / carers too, providing therapeutic support to address social, emotional and behavioural problems. 

The Place2Be helps build children's confidence and self-esteem, enabling them to cope with difficult life events, establish friendships and focus in class.  This in turn makes school a happier place to be for all the children and school staff.

Message from Tim Mayn, School Project Manager, Place2Be

I would like to introduce myself as the School Project Manager for The Place2Be at Ridgeway School.   My role is to provide and oversee the services described above that The Place2Be offers.   Our model is not simply to work with a child, but to work with the all the people who know and support that child on a daily basis, such as the teaching staff and of course most importantly you the parents and carers.   To this end I am always very happy to meet with any parents or carers and would reassure you that no therapeutic work is undertaken without the full consent and knowledge of both the parent / carer and the child.    If you would like to find out more about The Place2Be, have any questions, or would like to talk about any issues or concerns you may have about your child, please do not hesitate to contact me.  You can email me at spm.ridgeway@theplace2be.org.uk; ring me on the schools number or just pop into my office, in the Key Stage 2 corridor, when you are passing.  I am in the school all day every Wednesday and Thursday and on alternate Friday mornings.
